How do I find a doctor or hospital in my network?

Who is this for?

If you have a Medicare Advantage plan and want to save money, get your medical services in network. This explains how to find an in-network doctor or hospital.

Networks are part of having a Medicare Advantage plan. When a doctor or hospital contracts with us, it means they’re in network. We also call them participating providers. Doctors or hospitals that don’t contract with us are considered out of network.

You save money when you stay in network. If you have a PPO plan, you pay less when you get medical services in network. And if you have an HMO or HMO-POS plan and don't go to an in-network doctor or hospital, in many cases you'll have to pay for the services you get.

Here’s how to find a doctor or hospital in your plan’s network. If you’re going to a new doctor or hospital, always ask if they accept your Medicare Advantage plan before you make an appointment.

Search online

Using our online tool, you can search for doctors and hospitals in your plan. Before you start, you'll need:

  • Your ZIP code
  • Your Medicare Advantage plan ID card
  • The name of the doctor or hospital if you want to search that way
  • Or the kind of care you're looking for

Look in your plan provider directory

You can use the plan provider directory to find doctors and hospitals in your network. Always ask the doctor if they accept your Medicare Advantage plan before making an appointment.
