What Should I Do If I Need Help With My Claims?

It’s important to us at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan that you’re satisfied with the service you receive and the way a claim is handled. If you have a problem, we want you to know what you can do about it.

Call first

Problems can often be taken care of with a phone call.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan PPO members:

Call the Customer Service number on the back of your Blue Cross ID card, or find phone numbers here.

Blue Care Network HMO members:

If the problem is related to health care you received, start by talking to your primary care provider, or your PCP.

If your PCP can't help, and for all other issues, call Customer Service on the back of you Blue Cross ID card or find phone numbers here.

Submit a complaint or file a grievance or appeal

When you feel that talking to us or your PCP doesn't resolve the problem, there's a formal process you can follow. It doesn't cost you anything, and provides instructions for what to do if the problem is related to an urgent health condition.
